The Northern Mountains of Vietnam are truly a sight to behold. One minute the rain is coming down with such force, it can hurt your exposed skin. The next minute the clouds part to expose this as your view. Over many years these near-vertical hillsides have been painstakingly molded into a landscape that now offers a pathway to food. Water carries nutrients from the top to the bottom. This is the season of preparing and tilling the paddies. I find these images telling a story work and preparation. The many colors of dirt and muddy water show a distinct network of pathways from high to low, needing steady and thoughtful attention for the entire system to work as a whole.
